A poster for a screening of King: A Filmed Record...Montgomery to Memphis

Re-Evaluation Counseling, [197-?]. A poster advertising a screening of the 1970 documentary King: A Filmed Record…Montgomery to Memphis at UC Davis and sponsored by the controversial peer counseling group, Re-evaluation Counseling. The documentary was directed by Sidney Lumet and featured newsreel footage of King from 1955 until his assassination with narration by Harry Belafonte, Ruby Dee, Charlton Heston, James Earl Jones and others. Re-evaluation Counseling was founded by ex-Communist and labor organizer, Harvey Jackins, who came under the influence of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics. The group was involved in anti-racism work and later established United to End Racism in 2006.
