What Individualist-Anarchists Want [with] What We Are For - What We Are Against: A Summary of Individualist-Anarchist Positions

Bristol: S. E. Parker, [196-]. A handbill and pamphlet stating the positions of individualist-anarchism by one of its best known expositors, E. Armand, one of numerous pseudonyms of French anarchist Lucien-Ernest Juin (1872-1962). Armand was a prolific writer and edited no less than eight anarchist journals. Both items were published by fellow individualist, the Englishman Sidney Parker, and issued from his home at 75 Cotswold Road, Bristol. Parker and Armand corresponded before Armand’s death and Armand apparently “charged” Parker with “reanimat[ing] the individualist anarchist movement in all the countries of the English language” (from a 1993 interview with archivist Trevor Blake available at the invaluable Union of Egoists website). This led to the printing of these two items, as well as Armand’s “Anarchism and Individualism,” which Parker published after Armand’s death.

The handbill measures 5” x 8” and is printed on recto only. The pamphlet is 5” x 7 ½”, 4 p. Some creasing to the pamphlet, the handbill is Near Fine. Both uncommon in the trade & institutionally. Item #9228
