New York: The Comrade Publishing Co., 1903. First edition. A single issue - and the final one of Volume II - of this seminal socialist magazine, which began in 1901 and was the first to meld radical politics with art and literature, paving the way for magazines such as The Masses, The Liberator, and the New Masses. It lasted until 1905 when it was subsumed by the Charles Kerr-associated, International Socialist Review. Content for this issue includes Horace Traubel's "Without Money and Without Debts," George D. Herron's "From Revolution to Revolution," R. A. Maynard's "How I Became a Socialist," fiction by Morris Rassas, poetry, cartoons, views and reviews, and adverts.

Stapled wrappers (9 ¼” x 12”) with famous cover illustration by Walter Crane, 265-284 p., photographs, illustrations. Some closed tears and chipping along the edges, but overall VG. All issues uncommon in the trade. Item #8501
