From the Congressional Record, 1956. Mixed Schools and Mixed Blood

Greenwood, Miss. Association of Citizens' Councils, [1957]. A segregationist tract arguing that the principal reason white Southerners oppose school integration is fear that integrated education will ultimately lead to interracial marriage and racial amalgamation. Sass attempts to recast segregation as benign “race preference” rather than racial prejudice, maintaining that separation is natural and biologically desirable and that integrated schools would condition white children to abandon racial distinctions. He further invokes hereditarian and pseudo-scientific arguments about racial difference, portrays the NAACP and other civil-rights advocates as deliberately or effectively promoting racial mixing, and contends that resistance to integration is necessary to preserve the “racial integrity” of the white South.
