A later edition of the notorious antisemitic forgery purporting to reveal a Jewish conspiracy for world domination, translated from Sergei Nilus’s Russian text by British journalist Victor E. Marsden. First issued by Eyre & Spottiswoode in 1920, Marsden’s translation became one of the principal English-language vehicles for the Protocols. This revised impression adds an extensive introduction interpreting postwar institutions—including the United Nations, NATO, the European Common Market, international financial bodies, and movements toward world government—as confirmation that the supposed conspiracy was advancing according to plan. It thus illustrates how publishers continually modernized the discredited text to accommodate contemporary political anxieties. Despite repeated exposure as a fabrication derived partly from nineteenth-century political satire, the Protocols remains among the most influential works of modern antisemitic propaganda.
