Item #15199 The Point (3 issues). Father Leonard Feeney.

The Point (3 issues)

Louisville, Ky. n.p., 1956-57. Reprints? Three scarce issues of the Catholic, anti-Semitic, anti-Masonic newsletter published by the controversial Jesuit priest, Father Leonard Feeney (1897-1978) from 1952-1959. Each issue highlighted Feeney’s antipathy for Jews, Freemasons and Communists and his illiberal and anti-modern interpretation of Catholic theology. Feeney was ex-communicated from the Catholic Church in 1953 and founded the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Included are April and October, 1956 and April 1957 issues.

To our knowledge, only far right propagandist James K. Warner reprinted issues for distribution, but these three issues bear a Louisville, KY P.O. Box and offer reprints at 4 for $1.00. We're unsure based on the address who was responsible for issuing these or in exactly what year, but the reproduction indicates that it was likely 1960s or 70s. All issues - reprint or original - uncommon in the trade.

Each issue consists of a single folded sheet, 4 pp. Only eight institutions holding any issue in OCLC. Item #15199
