Bring Back the Old Deal - Marvin Kitman
Hastings-on-Hudson, New York: Printed by Morgan Press, [1968]. A poster advertising Marvin Kitman's satirical Presidential campaign, in which he ran as a "real Lincoln Republican" who would abolish slavery, re-inforce the Garrison at Fort Sumter, and bring the south back into the Union. At the time, Kitman was managing editor of the satirical magazine Monocle and had previously written for Paul Krassner's "The Realist." Describing himself as "twice as Jewish" as candidate Barry Goldwater, Kitman entered the New Hampshire primary and caused an uproar at the Republican Convention. Although someone has crossed out '1964' and written '1968', it doesn't appear that Kitman campaigned again that year, although he did publish The True Adventures of Martin Kitman that year. Kitman ultimately published a dozen books and was a notable television critic and contributor to Newsday.
