A map originally published by the Coloroto Magazine (a Sunday supplement to the New York Sunday News) in 1966 to help Americans better understand the region in which the Vietnam War - described as an "infected grown toenail" - was taking place. The map shows a detailed visual overview of Southeast Asia, extending from Communist China in the north to the Gulf of Siam and South China Sea in the south and highlights U.S. and South Vietnamese bases and airfields, roads and railroads, major red zones, the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and Communist shipping lanes. This reprint was issued free of charge by "The Daily News."
The map measures 21 ½” x 13 ½”. Creases from folding, someone has written seven Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) stations to bases or cities (AB8AB, AB8AG, AB8AC, AB8AK, AB8AO, AB8AF, and AB8AI); some offsetting to verso. Item #15018
