Money Made Mysterious

New York: The American Mercury, 1958. A compendium of “American Mercury” articles on the “dishonest debt-money system” with a thread of anti-Semitism tying the articles together. Most articles were written by Paul Stevens and Elbert O. Kelsey and describe the role of the International Bankers (including the Rothschilds and Rockefellers) and money changers (used interchangeably at the time for Jews) in constructing a debt money system that enslaves the populace.

The magazine, which had originally been founded by satirist, H. L. Mencken, was sold to the wealthy oilman and arms manufacturer, John Russell Maguire, in 1952 who steered it in an anti-Semitic direction. The magazine was sold in 1961 to the American far right demagogue, Gerald B. Winrod and later to Willis Carto.
