Shaker Family Almanac 1888 Containing Portraits of 12 Millionaires

New York: A. J. White, [1887]. One of the promotional Shaker Family Almanacs published by Andrew Judson White in New York, which advertised popular Shaker herbal medicines such as Kaskine, Shaker Extract of Roots, Seigel's Curative Syrup, etc. Although primarily peppered with testimonials, adverts, and articles on the curative effects of these medicines, this edition includes monthly calendars for 1888, short anecdotes and humorous asides, and engraved portraits of 12 millionaires. It appears that only half a dozen or so were issued through 1889, with none others currently offered in the trade.

Decoratively printed wrappers hole punched and string-bound at the top left corner for hanging, 32 pp., illustrated. Chipping near the tail, darkening and foxing to wrappers, a very good copy. Item #14634
