Three different posters advertising the Catholic film, "The Peace Plan from Heaven"

[San Anselmo, Calif.?]: [Marian Guild Films?], [1950s]. While laying in a foxhole during WWII, soldier Paul Lawrence read a pamphlet about the story of Fatima, the appearance by Mary to three Portuguese children in 1917 in which she warned that wars with a punishment for sin. After he was discharged, Lawrence decided to make an amateur film re-enacting the event and enlisted his family and community members to play roles. The film premiered on March 13, 1949 and consisted of three parts: the Story of Fatima re-enacted; scenes from the great shrine of Fatima marking the place of the apparitions of Our Lady; and highlights from the famed "Pilgrim Virgin" tour throughout America. Lawrence founded Marian Guild Films from his home in San Anselmo, CA, to distribute the film, and despite its amateurish production, the film spread like wildfire across the U.S. and was viewed by millions of Catholics and non-Catholics alike at churches, community centers, people's homes, universities, etc.

The three posters offered here all feature different content: one consists of an article by Stanley J. Meyer from St. Joseph Magazine (Sept. 1951) recounting the film's creation and features a photograph of the the three children actors; another features a large photograph of a Marian procession with short newspaper accounts of the film's screenings and an injunction to heed Mary's warning; and the last poster features a statue of Mary with a bulleted chronology concerning the wars that have happened since 1917 and the future violence and societal collapse that will occur unless humanity turns from sin. Also included are newspaper reviews of the film.

Each poster measures 20" x 14" and are printed in blue, brown and black, respectively. The bottom of each poster includes a section for writing the place, date, and time of screening. Item #14277
