Two flyers for the Republic of New Africa's failed Conference on Survival and the Black Nation

Jackson, Miss. Republic of New Africa, [1974]. The Conference on Survival and the Black Nation was scheduled to be held from October 11-14, 1974 at Wayne State University and was organized by Minister of Justice Chokwe Lumumba and Sister Bukeka Obatiya. We presume the conference was supposed to revivify the struggling Republic of New Africa, which had lost many of its members to prison or other organizations. But we find no record that it ever took place.

One of the flyers is an open letter addressed to Beloved Black Brother, Black Sister and briefly describes the RNA’s history, its current activities, and details for the proposed conference. On the verso is the conference’s formal declaration. The other flyer includes the formal declaration to the recto only.

Both mimeographed on 11” x 8 ½” sheets. Fine condition. Item #13961
