A blank membership card and flyer for the American People's Mobilization Victory Over Fascism campaign

New York: American People's Mobilization, [1941]. On June 22, 1941, the American Peace Mobilization changed its name to the American People's Mobilization to signify its new pro-war stance and to inaugurate its Victory Over Fascism campaign. The APM was founded as a non-interventionist, peace group in September 1940 following the Committee to Defend America by Keeping Out of War's Emergency Peace Mobilization conference in Chicago. The group lobbied, held conferences, and distributed literature to try and keep the U.S. from entering the war, but following German's invasion of the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, the group changed its name and advocated supporting Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and all those fighting fascism. By October, they were defunct.

Included here is a blank two-color membership card stapled to a yellow flyer mimoegraphed in red and black inviting readers to "Join the Nation Wide Smash Hitler Roll Call." A Smash Fascism button was apparently included as well, but is no longer present. Not found by us in WorldCat, although we assume a copy exists in the American Peace / People's Mobilization records held at Swarthmore, the finding aid of which was referenced for our description.
