Otis A. Hood says - Stop the Killing in Korea!!

Roxbury: Otis A. Hood, [1952]. A political handbill for the campaign of long-time Massachusetts Communist Party member Otis A. Hood who was running for Representative - Ward 14. Hood campaigned on ending the U.S.'s involvement in Korea where "Korean women and children are being burned alive by American napalm bombs." At the bottom of the handbill is a clip away slip urging President Truman to order an immediate cease-fire.

Hood, an architectural sculptor, joined the Communist Party in 1934 and after organizing in Vermont returned to Boston and settled in Roxbury where he was very involved in Party affairs. He was indicted under the Smith Act in the 1950s for conspiring to overthrow the government, although these charges were later dismissed. He was a perpetual political candidate, unsuccessfully running for Governor, Mayor, Boston School Board member and for representative. Item #13858
