The New Deal & The New Slavery
Gulfport, Mississippi: The Dixie Press, 1944. Fourth Printing. A pamphlet based on the author's speech before a number of Southern clubs and associations, in which he excoriates Roosevelt's New Deal for expanding its bureaucratic slavery. Rand compares this bureaucratic slavery with human slavery of blacks in the antebellum South, the latter of which he describes as far more preferential and humane since there was "more or less personal freedom" (p. [5]). He also discusses Presidential term limits and taxation and calls for splitting the Democratic Party wide open, electing senators, congressmen and other officials who will protect the Constitution, and standing behind patriotic Americans who will fight the battle between "individual liberty and state slavery" (p. [14]).
Clayton Rand was a Mississippi columnist, speaker, and publisher who operated the Dixie Press and published the Dixie Guide. He was also the author of six books.
