A Faithful Narrative of the Remarkable Trance of Rev. William Tennent

An account of the near-death experience of the Irish-born Presbyterian minister, William Tennent (1705-1777) who spent three days in "suspended animation" with most of his friends and relatives believing him dead. After regaining consciousness, Tennent described visiting a heavenly realm filled with beauty and joy. In 1733, Tennent became pastor of the first Presbyterian Church in Freehold, NJ, replacing his brother John who died of tuberculosis. He remained in that position for 43 years and in 1920 the church was renamed Old Tennent Church. Also included is an account of Tennent's perjury trial in Trenton and the divine intervention in the form of a Maryland couple who saved him.
