Speak Out For Victory on March 17th!

Boston: Communist Party of Boston, [1942]. A handbill issued by the Communist Party of Boston right before Evacuation Day, 1942, in which Bostonians are congratulated for preventing the Nazi apologist Congressman Hamilton Fish from speaking. Fish is referred to as “an enemy of our Commander-in-Chief, President Roosevelt, and his win-the-war program,” and is accused of devoting his time to “creating disunity, to anti-labor propaganda, to raising suspicions against our allies, the United Nations.” The handbill concludes by encouraging protests against the invited speaker, Rev. Edward Lodge Curran, a right-wing Catholic priest.

Offset printed in black on a 9 ¼” x 6 ¼” sheet of pulp stock. Some toning, crease at bottom left corner and a few chips to the edges. One copy in WorldCat at Boston College, although we note a copy in the Communist Party of Massachusetts collection at UMass. Item #13572
