Interesting Judgment of Police Tribunal of Lausanne, Switzerland, on the Talmud!

New York City: E. N. Sanctuary, [1939?]. A handbill issued by anti-Semitic agitator E. N. Sanctuary celebrating the outcome of a Swiss court case that exonerated a group of anti-Jewish activists accused of mis-quoting the Talmud on a tract they placed in shop windows in Vevey. The tract was addressed to Swiss workers, peasants, merchants, and others and stated:

“IF YOU WISH TO ESCAPE BEING SLAVES TO JEWISH CAPITALISM, if you wish to keep the independence of your ancestors, to live cleanly and freely on the soil of your fathers, insist that the Jews become once more what they formerly were here, what they have always been; ALIENS.”

To remain masters in our own home let us cry together:
DOWN WITH THE INTERNATIONAL JEW!
DOWN WITH JEWISH CAPITALISM!
SWITZERLAND FOR THE SWISS!

One of the defendants, Philippe Lugrin, a pastor known as the “Swiss Streicher,” was later sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 1942 murder of a Jewish cattle dealer, which became the basis for the novel A Jew Must Die (2010).

Sanctuary reprinted the text of the handbill from the Revue International des Societes Secretes, the bi-monthly bulletin of the Anti-Judeo-Masonic League, and used the opportunity to promote his own book, The Talmud Unmasked.

Printed in black on both sides of a 9 ½” x 6 ¼” sheet. Old folds and offsetting along the top and bottom edges. A scarce survivor. Not found separately catalogued in WorldCat. Item #13367
