The third volume of poetry by the Chicago-born black poet and Black Arts Movement participant Carolyn Rodgers (1940-2010) who was also a co-founder of Third World Press and an active member of the Organization of Black American Culture Writers (OBAC). This volume includes 25 poems written in Rodgers’ rhythmic, defiant vernacular, in which profanity played a central role:
"they say, / that i should not use the word / muthafucka anymo / in my poetry or in any speech i give… / i say, / that i only call muthafuckas, muthafuckas / so no one should be insulted. only / pigs and hunks and negroes who try to divide and / destroy our moves toward liberation” (from The Last M.F.).
