Jackson for President Committee, 1984. A newspaper from Jesse Jackson’s 1984 Presidential campaign, which describes the various groups within his Rainbow Coalition, as well as his Presidential platform. The Rainbow Coalition was originally devised by Chicago Black Panther Fred Hampton during the late 1960s to describe the broad group of activists working for revolutionary change in Chicago. Many of these activists later resented Jackson’s appropriation of the term (which he copyrighted) to describe his far more reformist political vision. This newspaper was published by a New England branch of the Jackson for President Committee.
