Campus Underground [with] The New Prairie Primer (12 issues) [with] Special Report: The Military-Industrial Complex in Iowa

Cedar Falls, Iowa: Campus Publications, 1968-1970. This broken run encompasses roughly half of the published issues of these two underground newspapers published in Cedar Falls, Iowa from 1968-1970 and affiliated with the University of Northern Iowa. The paper was conceived by a publisher named Doug Warrington who wanted it to become a nationally syndicated newspaper. But due to financial hardship, disinterest from the students in radical politics and censorship, the newspaper folded after eight issues. In October 1969, it was reconstituted The New Prairie Primer and numbering picked up where Campus Underground issues left off. It was published until September, 1970 (vol. 3, no. 3). In 1970, a special report on the military-industrial complex in Iowa was compiled by members of New Prairie Primer, High and Mighty, and the Grinnell Defense Industry Study Group and published as a tabloid expose.

Included in this run are Campus Underground, Vol. 1, Nos. 5-6; The New Prairie Primer, Vol. II, Nos. 1-4, 10-14; Vol. III, No. 3.

Tabloid format printed in black on newsprint, issues run 12-20 p., illus. An about fine run. Issue 14 appears to be lacking a special section called 'Life', or we overlooked it. Item #12997
