Item #11975 Peace Creeps

Peace Creeps

Dallas: American Nazi Party, [ca. 1965]. A leaflet issued by the American Nazi Party featuring a cartoon lampooning a variety of peace protestors, including blacks and Jews, and offering “FREE Gasoline & Matches for Peace Creeps.” Likely drawn by ANP leader George Lincoln Rockwell who began referring to beatniks, hippies, and pacifists as “peace creeps” in the early 1960s. The first iteration of this leaflet was apparently published in 1962 and it was reprinted in the mid-1960s by the Dallas unit of the ANP who replaced many of the slogans on the placards. The cartoon was later reprinted by the National Renaissance Party and the Ku Klux Klan and it was featured in the reference book, Propaganda and Mass Delusion: A Historical Encyclopedia, 1500 to the Present (2003), p. 67.
