Farinas, a Cuban national and member of the Trotskyist Workers Party, was tried and convicted in December 1970 on the charges of “failure to cease and desist from leafleting, speaking and unruly and boisterous behavior, refusal to report for and submit to induction, and hindering and interfering with the Selective Service system.”
