The Promised Land: A Grass Roots Report on Mid-Peninsula Land Use

Palo Alto, California: Grass Roots Writing Collective, [1970]. Second Edition. A detailed report on the profit-hungry development of the Mid-Peninsula area of California (the area between Redwood City and Sunnyvale) and the concomitant housing shortage, environmental degradation, commercial expansion and defense contracts. Included is a history of the area beginning in the 19th century and the constant stream of industrialists and capitalists controlling the area’s development at the expense of local residents. Includes a centerfold map in watercolor that appears to have been slightly misprinted and therefore is somewhat blurry. Other sections include Jobs and Population, Housing and Services, Ecology, Stanford Land Use, and Palo Alto Development. Lots of photographs, illustrations, and charts throughout.

Stapled, illustrated wrappers (11” x 8 ½”), 61 p., illus. A Fine copy. Item #10605

Price: $65.00
