An issue of the Supporters of Silkwood newsletter, which provided information on the legal case filed by Karen Silkwood’s family following her mysterious death while on her way to meet a New York Times journalist in 1974. Silkwood, a plutonium worker and spokesperson for the Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers Union, had been documenting health and safety violations of the Atomic Energy Act at the Kerr-McGee plutonium plant in Cimarron, Oklahoma where she was employed. Besides updates on the investigations into her death and the case filed by her family against Kerr-McGee, there are articles on nuclear radiation, beryllium exposure, and testimonies from environmentalist, union, religious, feminist and civil liberties activists on Silkwood’s legacy.
