New York: New York Council, and Youth Committee to Abolish the House Un-American Activities Committee, 1961. An 8 ½” x 11” hand-lettered, mimeographed flyer for an anti-HUAC event featuring Pete Seeger, Carl Braden and Frank Wilkinson held at the St. Nicholas Sports Center in NYC on April 21, 1961. The event was held ten days before Wilkinson and Braden entered federal prison for contempt of Congress stemming from their appearance before HUAC where they pled the First Amendment (as opposed to the Fifth). Seeger, too, had been handed a prison sentence for contempt, but his conviction was overturned. Creasing from folding. Item #08185
