The first handbook to be issued by the IWW for the coal-mining industry, its goal was to educate miners on various facets of the industry in preparation for eventual control by the workers. Includes information on coal, the history of the industry in the U.S. and the long struggle for organizing workers, and the various unions representing them. Concludes with a chapter on why miners should join the IWW.
