Atlanta: States’ Rights Council of Georgia, Inc., [ca. 1956]. A speech from Dr. T. F. Callaway, Baptist minister of Thomasville, GA, first delivered on Confederate Memorial Day, 1944. Dr. Callaway refutes the notion that the Civil War was fought over slavery or to preserve the union, but over the “determination of our neighbors in the North to prevent the financial and political, if not the social, ascendancy of the South on this continent.”
