Two “Mo letters” from cult leader Moses David (b. David Berg), the controversial spiritual leader of the Children of God (now called the Family International). In “Nitler,” he likens Richard Nixon to Hitler and prophecies about increasing government oppression and in “The School” he recounts a dream of an Orwellian facility where radicals are sent for “reeducation,” “retraining” and “reindoctrination.” An important fundraising tool, Berg disseminated over 3000 similar missives to his followers and the public, and according to a website dedicated to him, the letters were meant to “ground the membership in the fundamental teachings of the Bible and the mission of the movement, as well as to propose novel doctrinal interpretations, and teachings on biblical prophecy related to Jesus' Second Coming and the Endtime.”.
