Anti-communist propaganda in the form of the alleged diary of a Venezuelan medical student, Edwin Erminy, who was duped by the Castro-Betancourt regimes to fight against the Dominican Republic dictator, Rafael Trujillo. As Erminy succumbs to his wounds inflicted by peasants loyal to Trujillo, he writes, “I want to state emphatically that the man I consider responsible for all this, and for whatever way [sic] become of us, especially we Venezuelans who are mixed up in this, is the pederast, Rómulo Betancourt, the backer and most important factor in this unfortunate enterprise.” Trujillo attempted to assassinate Betancourt in 1960 with a car bomb, but Betancourt survived and Trujillo was assassinated a year later, possibly backed by the CIA.
