An 8 ½” x 11” mimeographed flyer announcing a talk at Locke School on the topic of “Inner Tensions and Gang Conflict in the Community.” The event was co-sponsored by the Educational Equality League, which was founded in 1932 by Floyd L. Logan to desegregate Philadelphia schools, hire more black teachers and elect at least one African-American to the Philadelphia school board. The Alain Locke middle school opened in 1965 and was named for the important educator, Harlem Renaissance figure, and first African-American Rhodes Scholar who grew up in Philadelphia.
