New York: Cultural Correspondence, 1983. 4to; stapled, photo-illustrated wrappers, 96 pp, illus. Slight rippling to front wrapper evidence of some dampstaining, but does not affect interior; otherwise just light wear and rubbing, VG overall.
One of the final issues of the long-running progressive cultural/arts magazine founded by Paul Buhle and Dave Wagner in 1976 after their many years involved with the SDS publication, “Radical America.” After announcing a final issue in 1981, poet-activist, Jim Murray, took the editorial reins (hence ‘New Series’) and published a few subsequent issues.
The content for this issue is organized into three sections: ‘Imagining the Eighties’, ‘Radical Humor’ and ‘Arts Roundup’. Three articles by C. L. R. James in the Eighties section with his review of Alice Walker, Toni Morrison and Ntozake Shange. The Radical Humor section features content by Paul Buhle, comic Robin Tyler, Paul Krassner (“The Realist”), Flo Kennedy, Susan McCarn, and others. Dan Georgakas contributes to the Arts Roundup with “Andrew Devon Logbook,” illustrated by Seth Tobocman and Tom Keogh. Poetry by Jim Murray, Holly Zox, Joel S. Cohen, and Diane Levenberg. Item #06121
