New York: Guardian, 1968-77. A broken run of 26 issues this leftist weekly tabloid, which began as the National Guardian in 1948 and changed names to the Guardian in February 1968. The majority of issues included in this run are from 1976 with coverage indicative of the paper's embrace of Marxism-Leninism, third world liberation struggles and support for the New Communist Movement. African liberation struggles dominate many of the issues with domestic coverage of black liberation, labor struggles, the economy and its effect on working people, prisoner campaigns, etc. The earliest issue of this run was published April 13, 1968, a week after MLK's assassination with ample coverage of the black community's response. Issues included are: Vol. 20, No. 28; Vol. 22, Nos. 2-4, 6; May 26, 1976, June 2, 1976, June 9, 1976, June 16, 1976, June 23, 1976, August 18, 1976, August 25, 1976, September 8, 1976, September 15, 1976, September 29, 1976, October 6, 1976, October 13, 1976, October 20, 1976, October 27, 1976, November 10, 1976, November 17, 1976, November 24, 1976, December 1, 1976, December 8, 1976, December 15, 1976, & January 5, 1977.
