The Thrilling Adventures of a New York Detective (The People's Handbook Series No. 24). James BRAMPTON, John Babbington WILLIAMS.

The Thrilling Adventures of a New York Detective (The People's Handbook Series No. 24)

New York: F. M. Lupton, 1893. Reprint. 8vo; original printed wrappers; 64 pp. The abridged reprint of the early American detective title, "Leaves From the Note-Book of a New York Detective: The Private Record of J.B" published by Dick & Fitzgerald in 1865. Purported to be the memoirs of a detective, James Brampton, the stories actually came from the mind of medical doctor, John Babbington Williams (1827-1879). A 2008 republication by Westholme Publishing elicited an LA Times article on the title and author. Liberal chipping to the fragile wrappers, although covers and pages are intact; some evidence of book worm grazing, although mostly to the margins. A Good complete copy. Item #04099

Price: $150.00
