A support appeal for the three remaining members of the Plainfield 12, a group of blacks arrested in the wake of the death of patrolman, John V. Gleason, who was beaten to death by an angry mob after shooting Bobby Lee Williams, a black youth. Includes the facts surrounding Gleason's death, the railroading of the Plainfield Twelve, and maintains the innocence of Madden, a mother of two, Merritt, an ex-Marine, and Williams who'd already been rushed to the hospital when Gleason was killed. After numerous trials, appeals, and mistrials, Merritt and Williams were finally released. Madden wasn't released until the 1980s. Two horizontal creases from folding, light wear.
