Carrington's investigation into Indian fakirs, in which he endeavored to "examine the evidence for the genuine phenomena, and [to] explain the tricks and fraudulent devices employed by travelling fakirs in order to deceive their sitters, and to produce their tricks." Carrington was a tireless investigator of psychic phenomena and the founder of the American Psychical Institute. This title was later republished in the U.S. in 1913 and as one of Haldeman-Julius' Little Blue Book titles in 1928. A particularly well-preserved copy with 'Marlo Library' bookplate to front pastedown and 'Marlo' written to ffep, else clean throughout. In the scarce printed dust jacket, which is rubbed and with a few closed tears to edges. Item #03439
