Spearhead, No. 1, Aug - Sept 1964. John TYNDALL.

Spearhead, No. 1, Aug - Sept 1964

London: The National Socialist Movement, 1964. First edition. The scarce inaugural issue of Spearhead, a British national socialist publication published by John Tyndall's Greater Britain Movement (GBM). The GBM and Spearhead emerged from the acrimonious split in the National Socialist Movement (NSM) in mid-1964 when Tyndall and the NSM's leader, Colin Jordan, fell out over personal and political differences. Tyndall, Martin Webster and most of the NSM's leadership defected and formed the GBM, which later merged with the British National Party, the League of Empire Loyalists and other minor groups to form the National Front. Spearhead became the journal of the latter organization and continued until 2005. This first issue carries the alarmist headline: "Black Terror Runs Amok Throughout Africa. GLOBAL RACE WAR LOOMS NEARER." Also included are an editorial by John Tyndall explaining the current state of national socialism in Britain; "Who Will Save Africa from the...Black Death?" by Marin Webster; "'Laissez Faire' or National Socialism?" by John Tyndall; an essay on nationalism; "Some Social Achievements of the Third Reich" by Denis Pirie;" an anti-Semitic section called "Gleanings from the Ghetto;" news briefs, advertisements, etc. Printed in a large format measuring 16.5" x 11.5"; 6 pp.; photographs throughout. Both vertical and horizontal folds, but a surprisingly well-preserved copy. Scarce. Item #03162
