Africa 1974 Liberation Calendar

Richmond, British Columbia: LSM Information Center, 1973. Comb-bound calendar printed in color on white stock measuring 31.5 x 24 cm; illustrations by Selma Waldman. These calendars were part of the tireless fundraising and propaganda efforts of the Liberation Support Movement on behalf of African liberation struggles. The LSM was primarily composed of white intellectuals based in Canada and the U.S. west coast and was founded by anthropology professor, Donald Barnett, in 1969. Barnett died of a heart attack at 45 in 1976, but the organization was active until 1981. Each month contains an illustration of an African guerrilla group with signifcant dates annotated. One minor smudge at the top of the front cover, but a Near Fine example. Only the Labadie Collection appears to hold a copy of this particular year. Item #02621
