Half blue, half grey ribbed cloth stamped in gilt; 102 pp.; frontispiece + one illustrative plate executed by the author's daughter, Mildred. A love story set in the post-Civil War South concerning the titular Kitty Dixon, "a Yankee girl in old Virginia, who gave her heart to a Southern boy and teaches her children that Johnny Reb and Mr. Yank were both good fellows." The narrative concludes with a few pages of Southern war songs. The author, Clarence Archibald Bryce (1849-1928), was a noted physician and editor of The Southern Clinic. A Very Good copy with some slight rubbing and grubbiness. Scarce. We find only one other copy offered in commerce and a little over dozen held institutionally. Item #01630
